Ideally located within walking distance of the heart of Kennebunkport, straddling the riverbank where the river meets the sea, is the Breakwater Inn, Hotel and Stripers restaurant.

An attractive gray-shingled building with the classic wrap-around white porch, the more historic 1800s inn houses the 20 guestrooms and the Stripers Restaurant. The restaurant runs the length of the building and overlooks the Breakwater’s private beach and inlet. Featuring fresh seafood, a large aquarium is center stage. It is fun to watch the constant parade of boats heading in and out to sea.

Also in the inn are a lovely back sitting room, lounge and bar. The appealing décor is very “coastal” with soft whites, blues and greens selected for walls and fabrics, and white painted furnishings set on light pine floors. Up the central stairs, rooms are comfortable and many enjoy window views and the sound of the lapping surf. Adjacent and housed in what was recently the Schooners Inn, the Spa offers 14 smaller rooms. At the entrance, a handsome sitting area steps down to a bar whose windows overlook the inlet.
